We read about, think about and sometimes even try to form an "ideal" situation at places or with people. But there are always problems.

Now, problems is the first half of the whole process and it is probably the most difficult phase. Here is when we feel like "giving up". The fact is that after this terrible phase is a nice, golden and most enjoyable phase starts.

 

What we are discussing today has come only from the experience and we believe that it might be encouraging to the ones out there wanting to follow the same path.

 

When we try to be "very good" or "ideal". Things go wrong. People in front of us don't behave well. They act against us. We have to go through very bad situations and this whole environment around us try to pull us back to be "bad" (or realistically what we believe "normal" at that stage) again.

With ups and downs, although, if we keep on trying to be "good" or towards "ideal", eventually, things shape up. And the steady happiness which comes then is just undescribable. (ne-ti ne-ti! ;)

 

So the conclusion of our experience is that-

When you read about ideal behaviour (from your holy books, friends, parents, teachers, even just your thoughts), you will think about forming it around you. If you will be "brave" enough, you will try to do things differently than what world around you is doing. When you do this, things will go wrong. But do continue going towards that ideal state because now we know that ideal state would bring lots of steady happiness which is undescribable.

Today, I am feeling so good.

Why?

Because, my lecturer said "Well Done".

 

For last two years, I am working on "Hard-out" assignments. I am developing amazing things. Having lots of late-nights and doing lots of hard-work, but unfortunatly, my lecturer forgot to say, "Well done". It wasn't fun anymore doing good work for him. The mind said "who cares!", because after all that hard-work, he didn't care.

 

Now I came in contact with other lecturers, who say "Well-done". They are equally knowledgable and skilled as the previous lecturer, but I love the lecturers because they say "Well Done" or "Good Work" when I have done good work.

After working on the project until 2am, when I show him the great work done, he will smile at me and say "Good Work". He would also suggest good ideas on how to improve it. But when he appreciates my work, all my late-night-tireness just disappears and my next few hours are spent with a big smile on my face!

 

Thank you for the appreciation. It means a lot!

 

For those who are reading this, if you get into a position where you can appreciate someone's work, please do so. Don't just keep on demanding forever. If you will forget to say "Well done" when work is really well done then you will lose "well done" work from this earth forever.

સોફ્ટવેર એન્જિનિયર્સને લાગુ પડતી કે સંબંધિત કહેવતો:

- કોડ કરે તેનું CV વેચાય (બોલે તેનાં બોર વેચાય).

- જેવો પ્રોજેક્ટ, તેવો કોડ (જેવો દેશ, તેવો વેશ).

- પ્રોજેક્ટ મેનેજર કોડ કરે નહી ને, ડેવલોપરને શિખામણ આપે (ગાંડી સાસરે જાય નહી ને, ડાહ્યીને શિખામણ આપે).

- QA ને માથે કોડ (ગાંડીને માથે બેડું).

- પ્રોજેક્ટ મેનેજર કરતાં ડેવલોપર્સ ડાહ્યા (કુંભાર કરતાં ગધેડાં ડાહ્યા).

- કોણે કહ્યું હતું, બેટા, સોફ્ટવેર એન્જિનિયર બનજો? (કોણે કહ્યું હતું, બેટા, બાવળે ચડજો?).

- એક લાઇનની કોમેન્ટ માટે આખું સોફ્ટવેર કમ્પાઇલ કરવું (અડધા પાપડ માટે નાત જમાડવી).

- ડેવલોપર માત્ર બગને પાત્ર (માણસ માત્ર ભૂલને પાત્ર).

- સો દિવસ પ્રોજેક્ટ મેનેજરનાં, એક દિવસ ડેવલોપર્સનો (સો દાડા સાસુનાં, એક દાડો વહુનો).
પ્રોજેક્ટ ક્રેશનો ભોગ બનેલો કોમેન્ટ્સનું પણ બેકઅપ લે.
